ELSEE is a certified outdoor classroom for ages 0-99. It was accepted as a pilot project in 2009 for the Sustainable SITES Initiative, a system of accreditation which measures and quantifies how sustainable urban land development can be. It was created by The American Society of Landscape Architects, The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, and The United States Botanic Garden. It recognizes 200 benchmarks that protect local ecosystems services.

SITES is recognized internationally. CNGF is proud that ELSEE is the only accredited site in San Jose. This learning lab’s evolution is constantly responding to new knowledge and research that focuses on healthy and robust urban living with nature-based solutions.
