Wellness and preschool news: Giving Tuesday recap, winter updates

by Jennifer Jeffcoat, Director of Health and Wellbeing Services

It’s been a wonderful integration into the Gardens, these past few months, and the wellness center is now up and ready for the community.  We have a wonderful group of practitioners that are offering their gifts: pre-and- postnatal yoga, chakra yoga and sound healing, hatha yoga, kids’ yoga, parent and baby classes, kids’ art classes and more.

The Spirit of Play Parent Co-Op Preschool is now finding a beautiful rhythm within the village while learning about mindfulness, local ecology, and just having fun. Look out for the Mindfulness workshop series starting late January.

The Clinic is also open with Lisa Wong Lac., who is our featured practitioner of the month.  She is our resident Acupuncturist who brings a passion for educating on self-healing.  Her drive runs so deep that she single-handily went to the Mayor’s office and proclaimed the City of San Jose participate in Giving Tuesday each year.

The idea of being “better together” isn’t just a catchy phrase. It’s a reality anytime that like-valued people partner together for a common purpose. The idea behind #GivingTuesday is that after we wrap up the Thanksgiving holiday with our families we extend our gratefulness and thankfulness toward others first.

So, the Urban Eco-Village did just that. We had a day filled with free wellness services like meditation, community acupuncture, and lectures on healing without pain medication. The Village was even on the ABC7 news! Thank You, Lisa, for all your energy and time!!!
