Saint Andrew’s Episcopal School Teaching Gardens

ELSEE Model Teaching Garden for Grades Pre-K thru 8

This is an example of one of 85 teaching gardens that teams of landscape designers created as volunteers and student interns at CNGF. Saint Andrew’s parents raised money to hire Middlebrook Gardens to build a Middlebrook Gardens designed ELSEE (Environmental Laboratory for Sustainability and Ecological Education). After completion, CNGF provided college student interns to teach lessons to Saint Andrew’s students. (See sample lesson plan here.)

After two years, Saint Andrew’s teachers took over the lessons. They also received a grant from Whole Kids, which CNGF wrote to upgrade the native plant community gardens.
